The Climate Resilience Levy in Greece - Update

Posted on Tuesday 11th February 2025 by

December 2024, the Greek parliament approved a bill increasing the daily tax on short-term rental and hotel accommodation. This measure has come into effect for all arrivals January 2025 onwards.

This increase aims to combat climate change and support reconstruction efforts after Greece’s 2023 extreme weather events, building resilience for a sustainable future.

Going forward, the daily tax for hotel and holiday rental accommodation will increase to 15-euros per night during the summer season (2 euros per night for smaller properties).

A Positive Change for the Climate

These changes are seen as a positive step from the Greek Government to generate funding for local communities while also addressing the climate crisis.

Once again, as we step into 2025, Crete Escapes welcomes the positive changes introduced. We invite our guests to continue to view this as a meaningful opportunity to support the preservation of our planet while experiencing the unique beauty of Crete.

By continuing to contribute to the climate resilience levy, you help to create a sustainable, resilient future for both the environment and the local government. Together, we invest in protecting Greece’s rich natural and cultural heritage, ensuring it remains an inspiring destination for generations to come.
