Villa Icarus

General Description

Villa Icarus is on the prestigious Aegean Blue development in a wonderful location right opposite the little beach at Kera, between Kalives and Almyrida; it is approximately 15/20 minutes walk into either Almyrida or Kalives down a path opposite the villa.

This well presented, fully air-conditioned, modern villa has 3 bedrooms and will sleep up to 6.

The villa is single storey with a magnificent, spacious roof terrace (with table and chairs) which provides another sun bathing area apart from the terraces around the pool.

Villa Icarus has been equipped and furnished throughout in a modern style in keeping with its exterior design. Patio doors from the comfortably furnished lounge open up directly on to the pool terrace and the wonderful sea views across Souda Bay. There is a TV with Chromecast, DVD and CD players for your entertainment. The Chromecast is ready for use so you can stream your own TV and entertainment services from your phone, tablet/IPad or laptop.  

The kitchen/ diner area is comprehensively equipped with all appliances, a modern dining table and chairs to seat 6.

There are 3 bedrooms, all with double beds. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is also a family shower room. Two of the bedrooms have spacious wardrobes and drawer storage space whilst the 3rd has an informal hanging arrangement with plenty of drawer storage. All the bedrooms open up to private patios/terraces. 

External Areas

The outside spaces at this villa are outstanding. The villa is set in a beautiful position right opposite the small beach of Kera with awesome sea views across Souda Bay. The area immediately around the villa has been paved to provide a large sitting /dining/ sunbathing area. There is plenty to suit everyone with both sunny and shady spaces and lots of tables and chairs. The purpose built BBQ area with granite work surfaces, is situated at the back of the garden where it has its own covered dining area. The cocoon swing chair will be a popular spot for relaxing. The mosaic tiled pool is set into the front terrace area and is surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. If you tire of the pool, the little sand and pebble beach at Kera is just across the road (and down a track).

This villa is in a very convenient location and is an excellent choice for those clients who do not wish to hire a car for the duration of their holiday however you may find it more convenient to do so. Almyrida’s sandy beach and facilities are a mere 15 minutes walk from the Villa Icarus.

Notes

At the edge of the plot there is a steep drop and for this reason the owners do not accept bookings from families with children aged under 5. 

Internet Access

Wifi internet access is provided by a fixed telephone line. There are no download or upload limits.

Villa Icarus is licensed for holiday rentals with the Greek Tourist Authorities . Licence number 1057879.

For those requiring accommodation capacity in addition to Villa Icarus, a very short walk away on the same Kera development are Aegean Blue Villa (3 bedroom to sleep 6) and Villa Jasmine (3 bedroom to sleep 5).

General

Chania airport - 35 mins drive. Heraklion airport - 1 hr 45 mins drive.

Nearest Beaches -­ Kera (shingle) - across the road.  Almyrida - 15 min walk / 4 min drive or Kalives - 36 min walk / 7 min drive.

Nearest Tavernas and Shops -­ Almyrida - 15 min walk / 4 min drive. Kalives - 36 min walk / 7 min drive.

NB; all times are approximate and based on average driving and walking speeds. Some walking and/or driving may be on unlit and unmade track roads. Please refer to the map tab to view satellite images of the area.

Booking Information

Change-over days are totally flexible but are subject to existing bookings taken either side. If a booking means that the owner would be left with too many "void" days we might not be able to accept it. If this is the case we will contact you without delay to discuss alternatives. 

Payment can be made by bank transfer to our sterling account or by debit or credit card (Mastercard or Visa) only.

Additional Notes - at the edge of the plot there is steep drop and for that reason the owners do not accept bookings from groups with children aged 5 and under.

Please note: although the calendars show live availability and you can book on-line, please note that your booking is not confirmed until we have issued a confirmation of booking. You may prefer not to book your flights until we have confirmed the booking.

Low occupancy discounts - unfortunately the online booking system automatically calculates the single couple or small party discount based on the number of people entered onto the booking form and the start day of your rental. There are 2 problems with this:-

a) If you are 2 people but not a single couple, or 3 or 4 people but not 2 + 1 or 2 + 2, the system will have automatically calculated a discount when it is not due. Please make use of the "additional notes" box on the booking form to tell us and we will adjust the price accordingly before we confirm your booking.

b) If your rental overlaps from a discounted period to a non-discounted one (or vice versa), the discount calculated will be wrong. In these cases we have to make the adjustment manually. You can still book on-line but we will need to change the price on receipt of your booking request. If the price increases we will contact you to confirm the new price before we confirm your booking and take your deposit.

Please don't let either of these issues put you off making a booking. The discounts are genuine and our villa owners welcome couples and smaller parties out of high season. We just can't fine tune the booking system to account for these 2 circumstances - sorry.

 

Just wanted to thank you for such a lovely holiday in the amazing Villa Icarus which had views to die for. Coffee in the morning on the patio or roof top looking out into Souda bay were a highlight as well as the picture perfect sunsets. It took 3 years to get there but it was worth the wait - August 2022.

We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back soon - August 2021. 

We are sorry but due to the Covid-19 crisis reviews for the 2020 season are unavailable.

The villa is well situated and only a short walk to the local beach (Kera) which is private.  The views are amazing and the outside areas of the villa were well used and great for keeping out the sun when needing to. The BBQ area was a real hit with us, the pool was great and the property managers Isobel and Walter were very nice and have some great information for us. We will be back to this villa in the future as we love it. The local Town of Almyrida is great, loads of places to eat and all good. Taxi back to the villa was only 5 euros so that came in handy some nights. The villa is well equipped  and has everything you need for your stay - August 2019. 

This is the 2nd villa we have booked with Crete Escapes and once again, very, very enjoyable. We have stayed in many villas over the years and I have to say visits to Bay Tree Villa and this one to Villa Icarus have been the best overall without a doubt. Villa Icarus is superbly equipped. To have a villa stocked with all the "little" bits you forget demonstrates that the owners have a real feel for this. Also thanks to the property managers, Walter & Isobel who sourced some gluten free products for my wife in the welcome pack. Little touches that make the difference. I expect we will be booking Villa Icarus again next year ! - July 2019.

Just to say a big thank you.  We spent a lovely two weeks in Villa Icarus and could not fault it.  The villa was lovely, clean and well equipped.  The outside space was such a lovely place to relax and enjoy the stunning view. Walter and Isobel who looked after the villa and pool were always full of useful information and kept the pool and villa in excellent condition. We would not hesitate to recommend this villa and your company.  We do hope to visit again soon - May 2018.

We have enjoyed our week at Villa Icarus with its stunning views across the bay and relaxing outdoor areas around the pool. We have visited the area before but this villa's proximity to the sea and beach as well as being within walking distance to Kalyves and Almyrida make it a good choice. We had mixed weather with some lovely hot days but also dramatic thunderstorms. On these days we went to Chania shopping and also to Rethymnon and the villages surrounding Almyrida. We drove to Imbros and walked the gorge. All in all, a memorable and enjoyable week - May 2017.

We had a wonderful holiday and would not hesitate to recommend Crete Escapes. Our villa surpassed expectations and it was very difficult to pack and come home! Thank you once again. - August 2015.

Had a fantastic week in the villa! Everything was perfect and it was in a perfect location but we never managed to find the path to Kalyves. Restaurants in Almyrida were all good. Thank you for a lovely stay - September 2014.

Fantastic villa with everything we wanted; we are already planning next year's trip! We ate out every night after a walk to Almyrida and took a taxi home at a cost of 5 euro - August 2014.

The family had a lovely holiday at this splendid villa. Weather in the mid 70's all the time and spring flowers out everywhere. If you have a car you can visit some of the traditional villages nearby - Plaka, Aspro and Gavalochori and further afield, the fresh water lake at Kournas - May 2014.

Villa Icarus is sublime. It’s private but not remote, accessible to all the best places & my wife &  I could not take in the view too often as we sat around the pool, or had a glass of wine on the roof terrace. We have had a  a lovely time - what fantastic views!  The villa is lovely, very clean and we have everything we need. We really like Erotokritos in Almyrida - great food and friendly servcie. Had an interesting taxi ride to "Spirit in the Sky" in Drapanos where we had a great evening and the food was excellent. This was our first visit to Crete and I'm sure we'll be back - August 2008.

The villa is lovely - spotlessly clean and well equipped. Recommended - Cafe Francoise in Almyrida for breakfast and Kritiko restaurant in Kalives - the meat in the wood oven esp pork, is delicious and the service excellent. Can't wait to come back next year - June 2008.
